I remember being 12 years old and learning that my father had his first heart attack at 47 years of age. For a young girl, it was scary! This would happen three more times between then and now, at the age of 25. I'm so blessed after several episodes to still have my father. So many people lose their loved ones so soon. Today, I volunteered for the American Heart Association! Heart health is so important to all of us that we should all be doing our parts to prevent this horrible disease from taking our loved ones!!!
Check out these statistics: In 2008, heart disease caused almost 25% of deaths—almost one in every four—in the United States. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. More than half of the deaths due to heart disease in 2008 were in men. In 2010, coronary heart disease alone was projected to cost the United States $108.9 billion. This total includes the cost of health care services, medications, and lost productivity. To learn more, click here: http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/
