I never realized how amazing Nashville, Tennessee is until I watched the show! I've lived about 120 miles away from Music City USA my entire life and the only ambition that I had towards Nashville was going to school there. Never did I realize the immense amount of hustle and talent that there was in such a southern place. I must say, I counted Nashville out. However, I'm so glad that someone saw the beauty in our southern bustling city! As a proud Tennessean, I present to you, 5 reasons you should watch Nashville:
1. You get to brag about the fact that you live near such a cool place! 2. You realize how broad and outstanding the music industry is, and how Nashville plays such a huge role in it! 3. You develop an appreciation for Country music! 4. You'll want to go find touristy spots in this great state of Tennessee as they may be seen on the show! 5. You'll fall in love with the flawed characters and yearn for more of the real Nashville: politics, music, love and more! So, watch Nashville! Better yet, can someone come out with a show called Memphis?! After all it was the states first capitol and is the largest city in Tennessee! I'm sure the show would be deep rooted and full of southern comfort!

My love for water is undeniable especially on a warm day! It's soothing and chill! Find your happy place! It only felt right to get out and enjoy on a gorgeous February Day! 🌀☀️🌊. After all, not many days in this month present you with a warm welcome! 😊 I want to be like her when I grow up! Lets make history today too! Courtesy of Beyonce's #28daysblackhistory At 31, Aja Brown currently serves as Mayor of Compton, California. She made history in 2013 as the youngest mayor to ever be elected in Compton, California. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning and Development and earned a Master's Degree in Urban Planning with a concentration in Economic Development. Brown has outlined an ambitious agenda to transform the poverty-stricken Compton of 97,000 people through fiscal reform, construction projects, jobs, better diet and civic promotion. This week, my cup runneth over or in other words I had a lot going on! I learned this positive term from one of my favorite tv shows: Blood,Sweat and Heels on BravoTV! One of the ambitious young women was talking to her mentor, telling her how overwhelmed and stressed she was. Her mentor told her "no, your cup just runneth over!" I fell in love with the phrase! So, I'm claiming it as mine! It's positive and came from the Lords word! What better way to put it?! I'm blessed beyond measures with great and crazy things! So today, I needed a regroup and that's exactly what I'm doing! I'm currently sitting in the hair salon working on myself! Next, I'll go to the nail bar and get my hands prepared to shake the world again! I never truly understood how necessary it was to fix yourself occasionally until I had a week like this one! You may think what I'm doing right now is so unnecessary, but don't judge me! When your cup runneth over, I hope you find something that appeases you! It could be anything! Driving (which I hate) Walking (which I've done) or playing a sport! Whatever it is, do you and be the best you possible! My week consisted of an Introduction to a Finance course, work, exercising, eating healthy, taking on a new social media consulting client, working on a new business venture, staying abreast of current news, maintaining my own blog, obtaining a new blogging opportunity for Everything Girls Love Blog, and topping it off with taking the GMAT today, I think I'll give myself a round of applause! I'm blessed! My cup runneth over, and I hope yours did too! Who knew that such a huge music festival took place in rural, Manchester, Tennessee?!!!! Do you know how amazingly beautiful our state is? We get the best of both worlds. The music of international and national artist. The lights, cameras and action of the largest US cities where one tends to find this type of occurrence. However, we get the scenic, countryside, southern landscape that calms the soul! So, if you are looking for something to do this summer, how about going to Bonaroo Music Festival to hear the melodious tunes of Lauren Hill, Valerie June or the revolutionary praises from Kanye West! Who knows? You may even see North West in the dirty south!!!!!! There's no need to travel large and far when you can have it all right here! What's not to love about Tennessee? We all tend to follow amazing fitness experts and gurus on social media. We debate with ourselves the give and take of a diet or a rigorous exercise routine to be just like those that we drool over on Instagram and Facebook. We come to the conclusion that we'll make these choices based off of how we feel today or what not. For me, when I'm having one of those days, I like to go to my favorite Mexican restaurant and fill my stomach with chips and salsa and smoking, grilled chicken fajita meat. I'd like to think that this is much healthier than making a trip to McDonalds, Sonic or even Taco Bell. After a while of repeating this habit, I begun trying to figure out even better ways to cure this craving. Then, I decided to make homemade salsa! There is nothing like appeasing your food fetish with such a vital part of the food pyramid. Did you know that women require 2 to 5 cups of vegetables each day? Well, making my own homemade salsa forced me to eat clean, and not be in the vicinity of other tasty delights that would case me to cheat on my health! Notice I said, health, not diet! Not to mention, I'm for sure getting my daily intake of nutrients! After all of these year trying to meet the infamous food pyramids requirements, I finally figured out a way to master the vegetable intake section. Here are some way you can benefit from homemade salsa: 1. You finally have a go to healthy snack that is filling! 2. You are getting lots of Vitamin C! 3. Eating fresh tomato salsa also boosts your intake of vitamin A. This nutrient plays an important role in your vision -- vitamin A in your retinas helps your eyes detect light even at low levels, allowing you to see at night. It also contributes to thyroid hormone function, aids in maintaining a strong immune system and plays a central role in fetal development. 4. Its low in calories! 5. Its full of vitamins and minerals such as iron, magnesium, and potassium which help maintain healthy blood pressure! So start today! Become a Salsa Bosa'! Below you'll find some pictures and a video of the way I make my homemade salsa! Hope you enjoy! For years when I was younger, I loved JCPenney! Then, one fateful day, I grew up! I began to fall in love with Targets celebrity collections, BCBG's boosting bargains and Dillard's dashing deals! I couldn't help but to be intrigued by such fashionable items, and besides, JCPenney just wasn't doing it for me anymore! Then, they starting coming out with these ear-catching commercials! I mean, whoever, is choosing the music for these commercials is flat out brilliant! The melodious tunes are definitely making us curious to see what's happening in the department stores! So, in the past 2 weeks alone, I've been going to the hair Salon in JCPenney, shopping in JCPenney and of course jamming to their commercials! I must say, I'm getting satisfied with the ranks of this store! It's true what their marketing department says, "You know it when it hugs your hips!" When you fall in love with your childhood department store, you'll just know! Thanks to brilliant marketing gurus, JCPenney has regained a once faithful customer, and its not just because I'm related to that dashing diva singing in the background! I can't say that college taught me how everything in the real world works. Hence, tax season. I had no idea I would end up paying the government thousands of dollars that I could be spending otherwise. And, this is not to say that I don't agree with what the government does with the money. I think programs such as planned parenthood and the Affordable Care Act are brilliant! However, there are ways around paying such a large percentage of my check into the government. Here are some tips to help you as you prepare to say goodbye to a lump sum of money that you didn't know you'd miss so much until tax season. 1. Start a home based business! Save every receipt from your expenditures. Write them off on your taxes. This business can be a Mary Kay Consultant, join a network marketing group or something. Hmmm.... Why didn't I think of this my first year out of college? After all, I did come from an entrepreneurial family. Literally, everyone works for themselves. 2. Start planning for next year! Pull out those nifty excel skills that you did learn in college and start budgeting where you will put your money so that you can know exactly how to calculate expenditures for your home and you home based business/ work related activities. 3. There is a tax credit that our fabulous President Obama put in place for us a few years ago if you are in school. Undergraduates, this helps you the most! 4. Understand your tax bracket! This one is huge! Some states pay different taxes on top of the percentage of taxes that we pay to the federal government based off of our incomes. That is all for now, and this is plenty for you to work on. Trust me. Let these small tips help you keep some money in your pocket! This image says a thousand words! Hears a man who shares his life with the world in order to make it a better place. What does President's day mean to you?
Here's what Cosmo told us: Hey, America: Please stop acting SHOCKED every time an Olympic athlete is a mom http://cosm.ag/60155wGz However, I cannot help but to be shocked about a mom of two who is rocking it at the Winter Olympics this year! Beyonce told us first in her sexy Grammy performance, and then we learn of the dashing mom! Just because you are a mom doesn't mean that your life is over. These women are proving that it's just begun. It definitely makes me want to join in on the motherhood fun one day. Side note, why are we so fascinated with moms who can move? Is it because we think we know how much time and money it takes to be great at that job that we can't focus on what we love at the same time? I think motherhood is a craft that one learns and becomes good at. Coming from a house-wife run home, I can attest to the fact that moms who give it their all certainly know how to do more than change diapers and cook a hot meal for their husbands. They know how to sew, cook, clean, build houses, raise miraculous and meritorious kids, perform at the Grammys and apparently win Olympic Medals. Thank you Cosmo for recognizing the fact that our view of what a mom can do is a little bit skewed! GO Noelle Pikus-Pace! We are so proud to have you representing us at the US Olympics! |
