It was the most energetic still picture I'd ever seen and little did I know it would leave my mind dancing in my dreams... I'd just finished an invigorating workout by the river when I happened to pass a piece of art that I couldn't take my eyes off of. I saw colors that I'd imagined in my wedding, one day. I saw history that I learned when I was a girl. I saw people in motion doing things that I love: Dancing. Hugging, Singing. No one said a word, but suddenly, I felt the whole world rise up in joy as I starred at this picture. Talk about a movie moment... I was there. The moment was slightly interrupted when a guy whom I nicknamed Mr. Art spoke a word to me. He inquired about what I did for a living. I boastfully told him my position in the corporate world. He then said, “no, what is it that you do as in living? art? Like, I do art.” I thought to myself, no one’s genuinely ever asked me that and especially in such an appreciative way. Therefore, I answered him with the typical response that leads to business cards and dry lunches, but when he spoke to me the way that he did the second time around, I answered him with a list of hobbies and talents that I’m so thankful for and thought to myself why wouldn’t that be my first response? It’s simply who I am, no learned behavior like the task I do at my big girl job. So as I left the energetic painting and Mr.Art, himself, there was something warm and eye-opening about the experience. There was me dreaming about everything I love and picturing myself doing so much more than big girl work. I was so warmed up; it had me dancing in my dreams.
